A mom who made 200 cards to thank the nurses who gave care to her child. A dad who made t-shirts for his kids, who were selling lemonade at a festival. A man who used the 3D printer to engineer the perfect pool ball rack. These are just a few of the projects created in the Tualatin Library Makerspace. Since it opened last fall, the Makerspace has seen more than a thousand visits from creative community members. All of these activities are possible because of the Tualatin Library Foundation’s financial support to make the Makerspace a reality.
Who Are We
The Tualatin Library Foundation is a group of volunteers dedicated to seeking private support for maintaining the excellence of programs and services offered by the Tualatin Public Library. Our nonprofit was established in 2008.
While tax dollars allow the Tualatin Public Library to buy materials and keep the building open, it is often only through private gifts that innovative new programs and services can be offered to meet the changing needs of our community. A good example of this is the recently completed Makerspace project where the Foundation was a major financial contributor. The Tualatin Library Foundation’s vision is to increase the endowment fund to ensure that our library can continue to offer high quality programs and services. This will be accomplished by building stronger relationships with individuals, businesses, foundations, grantors and community organizations so that our Library is the charity of choice.
All gifts to the Foundation are used to benefit the Tualatin Public Library which in turn benefits the entire community.
The Library Vision
From the beginning, the Tualatin Public Library has sought to serve the diversity of interest, demographics, and needs of the community. The library is a storehouse of knowledge, but is also a place where people of all ages and from all walks of life search out answers, sharpen their talents, and stretch their imaginations.
Libraries enrich lives and strengthen communities. Through private and public support, the Tualatin Library Foundation envisions a vibrant public library that maximizes access to information, increases literacy and innovation, serves as a gateway to arts and culture, and provides a community gathering place.
Reasons for Giving
Hundreds of people come to our library every day. They come for many reasons. Your gift is a powerful tool in the campaign to provide enlightenment and information in our community. Because of gifts from donors like you, the library is full of enhancements that support a high quality of life and opportunity for every Tualatin resident. Any amount helps, all gifts are welcomed.
Thanks to the support of the community the Foundation has been able to contribute to several library projects and programs the last couple of years including:
- The new Makerspace, available for all community members to share ideas, utilize tools, and learn to create items. The Makerspace includes 3D printers, a laser cutter, sewing machines, tools for wood and leather working, robotic kits and more.
- Oregon Battle of the Books, with over 500 books purchased and donated by the Foundation last year to support the annual reading contest between local schools.
- 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, which encourages families to read with their preschool-age children. More than 1500 books have been given away through the program.

We Need Your Help
The Foundation is honored to help strengthen programs for our community at the Tualatin Public Library. We need volunteers to assist the Foundation with special programs, such as the upcoming Vine2Wine event this fall, or serving on the Foundation Board, so we can all give some time or money to strengthen and expand library services to our entire community. Contact us or visit our website at www.tualatinlibraryfoundation.org for more information.
We sincerely appreciate your generosity and support of our library and of our future generations.
