Our Board

Board Members of the Tualatin Library Foundation serve alternating three-year terms to provide a historical memory. If you are interested in serving on the Board, helping out with any Library Foundation Activities, or just have questions, please contact any of us on the Board.

Royce Hermens – President

Royce has lived in the Tualatin area since 1988.  He formerly worked in heavy manufacturing for 31 years with Daimler Trucks NA.  He has left that world and is now volunteering with the library Foundation.  For him it is a simple transition from building objects to building human capital.  His mission is making the Foundation financially sound and permitting funds to flow from it to the library.  Seeds properly planted and well nurtured will bear a lifetime of fruit thereby permitting individuals, no matter their age, to learn, develop, and grow as a person.  You will see him at the library from time to time with his grandchildren in tow.

Michelle Schnabel – Vice President & Secretary

Michelle Schnabel

Michelle Schnabel is a Human Resource Manager for a technology company based in Tualatin. In addition to being a member of the Tualatin Library Foundation Board, she is also a long-time member of Tualatin Rotary Club and a volunteer for Tualatin Food Pantry. Michelle is an avid reader who developed her love of books at her local library as a child and has continued to regularly utilize the library with her own two children. Michelle believes that reading is a powerful tool that can stimulate imagination, create empathy, and bring people together in the world.

James (Jay) Harris – Treasurer

James Harris

Jay is one of the original founding members of the Tualatin Library Foundation, which was created in 2008 to support the growing needs of the community after the completion of the library expansion project in 2007. Jay is a former City of Tualatin City Councilor and a generous supporter of libraries, lifetime learning for all age groups, and actively volunteers with youth sport groups.

Brenda Braden – At Large

Ted Johnson – At Large

Gillian Fisher – At Large

Gillian Fisher is a business analyst who recently returned to Tualatin after a decade away. Gillian grew up going to the Tualatin library every weekend, and through the Foundation hopes to give these same opportunities to the next generation.

Emily Younker – At Large

Emily Younker

Emily Younker is a technical writer who lives and works in Tualatin. She spends her free time daydreaming about dragons and spaceships and giving unsolicited book recommendations. She joined the Tualatin Library Foundation Board because some of her best friends are books and she wants everyone to have similar friends.

Mary Rennebohm – At Large

My name is Mary Rennebohm. I am one of the Board members on the Tualatin Library Foundation. I retired in December 2022 after a 45 year career in Education where I worked in both public and private schools. This provided me with the opportunity to work with children ranging in age from kindergarten through grade twelve with students from around the world. I strongly believe in the value of Public libraries for the enrichment and resources they provide.
